Well, it's Thanksgiving Day here in Japan - a working day.  And I hardly thought about American holidays at all.  I wasn't going to do anything but since Fabio is Brazilian, he has no idea what Thanksgiving is (or some of the traditional foods) so, I decided to have a mini-scaled down (sorta) version.  I don't eat turkey and he dislikes pumpkin.  Snacks(from 4pm):Crackers with cheese and onion dip (onion soup and sour cream- yum!)Sparkling winePossible snack or salad from FabioPre-dinner(7pm):Cup of herbed cheddar potato soup with biscuitsDinner(8pm):Salmon baked with dill, lemon, salt and pepperGarlic mashed potatoesButtered PeasBiscuitsCranberry Sauce (homemade!) White wine or iced teaDessert(later, after death by dinner):Rhubarb Crumble with vanilla ice cream coffeeand a moviesound ok?  i give thanks this year to all ive learned since the last thanksgiving.  and to all the great people ive met... more

Mom always made these.  My favorite and OH SO EASY!  Made tonight for lunch this week :)Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup shortening (they make trans-fat free type now!) 3/4 cup milk 1 tablespoon melted butter Instructions: In a medium mixing bowl stir together flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening with a fork until mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center of the flour mixture. Add the milk all at once. Using a fork, stir just till moistened and dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl (dough will be sticky). On a floured surface, lightly knead dough with floured hands for 30 seconds or till nearly smooth. Lightly roll dough to 3/4-inch thickness. Cut dough with a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter, dipping cutter into flour between cuts.  (Or just pull out small balls of dough out of the bowl with... more

Should I have been an accountant? I just spent 2 hours crunching numbers into an easy to use spreadsheet calculating massage fees minus taxes and share (2 different percentages that might be the end negotiation for Rita's space) and figured out the number of massages in 60 and 30 minute increments that I'd need to make a certain amount of yen per month. I know how many massages I'll have to do to cover start-up expenses, min # needed to go full time as an MT (scraping by on cup noodles), # live comfy and to match my current full time salary, and I even created a 2 year goal. I know how many I can physically do a day and how many days a I'll have to work given a certain # of massages per month. All this: fun cake. And now- ugh, onto marketing. Marketing: the evil that will get me there. Starting work on logo #2. If I were a cool person, logos would be the YAY! part, right? Slog, dragging feet. Hmmm, maybe a tea right now would... more
needed: something legal and non-dehydrating to keep me awake and productive for 23.9 hours a day.

taking a day off after the race. But sorta itching to swim or SOMETHING. I organized my closet at 6am since I can't sleep with this cough. The run def exasperated the chest cold. And here I am wanting more! It's good to have these small competitions- reasons for doing what we do. Keeps our goals fresh. I think it's this way in any area.
