The effects

To prove this theory, let's take a look at some data: as of today, an estimated 250 million users are actively sharing and publishing content on blogging platforms, social networking and sharing sites. These users are proven to have the knowledge, potential and motivation to create content.

Of these 250 million, 30 million actively publish on a regular basis (source: technorati state of the blogosphere 2008 + estimates from video, photo and document sharing platforms).

But only an estimated 200 thousand users are making enough money from their online publishing activities to make a living. That's roughly 0.01% of the 250 million potential publishers.

These numbers reveal the dilemma of the web2.0. Even though it's a great step forward, the true revolution is not happening. The potential of unleashing human creativity is not activated. Because web2.0 technology lacks a decisive component.
